"After a series of avant-garde releases, Carpenter has formed a new band that plumbs the darker depths of Americana, creating an "avant-noir" sound in which you can hear faint echoes of modern-day Swans, Timber Timbre, and of course Johnny Cash, which you can hear on the new track "Savior of Love." -- Adrien Begrand, PopMatters

PRESS

"Carpenter's most revealing record yet...Americana by way of David Lynch's Lost Highway" -- James Reed, BOSTON GLOBE BEST LOCAL ALBUMS OF 2015

"Brian Carpenter & The Confessions exudes the sort of dignified darkness you’d expect given the company he keeps...bound to become a big name." -- Chris DeVille, STEREOGUM

"Carpenter has formed a new band that plumbs the darker depths of Americana, creating an “avant-noir” sound...a stunning piece of dark Americana. -- Adrien Begrand, POPMATTERS

"A further exploration into the darker side of Americana. True to Carpenter's avant-garde nature, the album frames sung lyrics and beautiful melodies with layered ambiance that makes for an unpredictable, but fascinating listen." -- UTNE READER

"These are haunted-twang tales of loss and woe, all shrouded in a cinematic melange of strings, theremin, organ, and nyckelharpa...mournful loners adrift in a uniquely American desert blighted with the detritus of pop culture and folk mythology. -- Shaun Brady, THE KEY
